‘Reform SC’ Releases First Radio Ad
RADIO SPOTS AIMED AT URGING SENATORS TO STOP EXCESSIVE SPENDING

Columbia, S.C – April 24, 2007 – Governor Mark Sanford today announced the first radio spots being aired by “Reform SC,” an ad that calls on the Senate to provide more in the way of tax relief while keeping government growth to a sustainable level.

The one-minute ad begins by laying out problems with
the Senate Finance Committee’s budget that will be considered this week: growing government by double digits for a third straight year, giving too little back in the way of tax relief, and not putting enough toward paying off the state’s long-term debts. Instead, the Senate budget proposes spending millions on cost overruns and unnecessary projects like a green bean museum. The ad ends with Governor Sanford asking South Carolinians to call their Senators and tell them to “join the fight for fiscal restraint.”

The ad will air statewide, beginning today.

fjones-3a2.jpg“As the Senate begins the budget debate today, the purpose of this ad is to serve as a reminder to everyone in the Senate that the people of South Carolina deserve more of their hard-earned dollars being sent back to them, rather than having virtually every dime spent in Columbia,” Gov. Sanford said. “As a Republican, I want our party to be known as one of less spending and of letting people keep more of their hard-earned money, not as the party of green bean museums. I’d urge conservative allies in the Senate who agree with that principle, as well as South Carolina voters who’d like to see more in the way of tax relief, to make their voices heard on that front as the Senate debates the budget this week.”

Reform SC is a 501(c)(4) non-profit, which will serve as a vehicle for advocating Governor Sanford’s agenda of lower taxes, less spending, and government restructuring. The group is being chaired by J.T. Gandolfo of Columbia. A portion of the unexpended money from Governor Sanford’s successful re-election campaign has been transferred to Reform SC, as allowed under South Carolina’s campaign finance laws.

“FIESTA”

Announcer: COLUMBIA IS ON A SPENDING SPREE LIKE NEVER BEFORE.

AND WHAT’S THE STATE SENATE DOING ABOUT IT?

(Dance music starts here)

THEY’RE JOINING THE FIESTA!

A MAJORITY IN THE SENATE WANTS TO SPEND MILLIONS OF OUR TAX DOLLARS ON COST OVERRUNS, GOLF COURSES, EVEN A NATIONAL GREEN BEAN MUSEUM.

IN COLUMBIA, THE TAXPAYER PAID PARTY NEVER ENDS.

RECORD TAX DOLLARS ARE FLOWING INTO STATE GOVERNMENT, BUT INSTEAD OF PROVIDING REAL TAX RELIEF OR SETTING ASIDE FUNDS TO PAY DEBTS, THE SENATE WOULD RATHER SPEND OUR MONEY ON A GREEN BEAN MUSEUM.

BUT THAT’S NOT ALL.

SOUTH CAROLINA NOW HAS THE FASTEST GROWING GOVERNMENT IN THE SOUTHEAST, AND IT’S THE SO-CALLED REPUBLICANS WHO ARE DOING ALL THE SPENDING.

(Dance music ends here)

HAD ENOUGH?

Sanford: THIS IS GOVERNOR MARK SANFORD.

WE’RE TRYING TO URGE THE SENATE TO STOP THE SPENDING PARTY AND GIVE MORE BACK TO TAXPAYERS.

WE COULD SURE USE YOUR HELP.

PLEASE CALL 803-212-6700 AND ASK YOUR SENATOR TO JOIN THE FIGHT FOR FISCAL RESTRAINT.

Announcer: PAID FOR BY REFORM S.C.
