COLUMBIA, SOUTH CAROLINA – U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham’s re-election campaign today announced South Carolina Attorney General Henry McMaster has endorsed Graham.

McMaster was elected to serve as South Carolina Attorney General in 2002 and overwhelmingly re-elected in 2006.  Prior to his service as Attorney General, McMaster served from 1993-2002 as the Chairman of the South Carolina Republican Party.

“As the former Chairman of the South Carolina Republican Party, I also know from experience Lindsey played a key role in helping build up our party,” said McMaster.  “He was always among the first elected officials who would offer assistance to our Republican candidates.  Lindsey is a team player, and I am proud to be part of his re-election team.”

“Henry has done a great job as Attorney General,” said Graham. “It’s a tough, demanding position and Henry has served in a fashion that makes South Carolinians of all political stripes proud.  I’m honored to have Henry on my campaign team and very grateful for all the contributions he has made to our state through his years of service.”

McMaster adds to a long and distinguished list of South Carolina leaders who have endorsed Graham.

Earlier this month, President Bush headlined Graham’s re-election kickoff event in Columbia.  On his visit to the Palmetto State, President Bush praised Graham for his support of cutting taxes, supporting the military and confirming conservative judges.

South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford, U.S. Senator Jim DeMint, Speaker of the South Carolina House of Representatives Bobby Harrell, 1st District Representative Henry Brown, 2nd District Representative Joe Wilson, 3rd District Representative Gresham Barrett and 4th District Representative Bob Inglis have also endorsed Graham.
