KERSHAW-LEE REPUBLICAN WOMEN CANCEL HOUSE DISTRICT 79 CANDIDATE DEBATE
Republican Women Grassroots Organization Cancel Forum Due to Conflicts
with Candidate

LUGOFF, SC – The Kershaw-Lee Republican Women announced today the
cancellation of their House District 79 Candidate Forum planned for
Tuesday, May 20, 2008. This GOP grassroots organization planned to host
an open and moderated forum between the GOP candidates on the most
pressing issues facing our community. In an effort to support the
women’s group and encourage full participation by candidates, the
Kershaw County Republican Party agreed to co-sponsor the event.

“This event was not about the needs of one candidate, but about a
responsibility to voters. It is unfortunate that David Herndon refused
to attend an open debate where voters could meet and listen to the
candidates.” stated Mary Young, President of the Kershaw-Lee Republican
Women. “Our women’s group and the Kershaw County GOP bent over
backwards to meet requests from Mr. Herndon, going so far as to change
the location. I am greatly discouraged by his lack of desire to speak
with the voters on the conservative issues facing our community.”

The Kershaw-Lee Republican Women Club is a group of dedicated GOP party
activists who desire to spread the conservative values held by the
Republican Party. This grassroots organization is also active in GOP
building activities and helping elect strong conservative leaders to
local and state offices.
