KATRINA SHEALY WINS LEXINGTON DEBATE STRAW POLL

LEXINGTON, SC – In a sign of continuing momentum towards the June 10th Primary, Katrina Shealy handily defeated her two opponents last night in a Lexington County straw poll.  The Straw poll was held after the Lexington County Young Republicans hosted a one-hour debate between the three candidates for State Senate District 23.  Shealy took 67% of the vote, compared with 22% for Mike Sturkie and 11% for incumbent Senator Jake Knotts.

“I am pleased at this new evidence of the momentum our campaign has built,” Shealy said.  “Two-thirds of the people here tonight chose to support my campaign as a result of tonight’s debate.  This truly shows which of the candidates in this race hold the Republican values and principles that are reflected in Lexington County’s voters.  I will continue to work hard to get out my message of conservative reform.”
