James Akers, Jr. announces town hall meetings.

Greenville, SC, July 9, 2008:  The James Akers, Jr. for County Council Campaign announced this evening, plans for a town hall meeting to be held later this month.  The town hall meeting will be held Wednesday, July 30th from 7:00pm -8:00pm.  The meeting will be held at the Greenville Library Systems Mauldin Branch and is Akers’ first town hall meeting since he won the Democratic Party’s Primary on June 10th.  Mr. Akers had a landslide win with 54% of the vote to his opponents’ 30% and 15% totals. Town hall meetings have become a signature of the James Akers, Jr. for County Council Campaign and Mr. Akers has promised a town hall meeting at least once a month if elected as the District 24 County Councilor.   “These town hall meetings give me the opportunity to hear community concerns first-hand. Mr. Akers is a real estate agent with RE/MAX Foothills located Downtown at the Hyatt and is a member of the Greenville Junior Chamber of Commerce.  In addition Mr. Akers serves as President of the River Run Home Owners Association, and serves on the Grievance Committee and the Legislative Committee of the Greater Greenville Association of Realtors.  Mr. Akers was also recently appointed to Imagine Greenville’s Land Use and Transportation Committee.

Mr. Akers’ platform is based on the need for better planned zoning and development, the need for at-large council-members, the need for better maintained roads, and providing a more responsive government for all citizens.
