WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Congressman J. Gresham Barrett today released the following statement regarding President Obama’s Budget:
“Two nights ago, in his first address to a joint session of Congress, President Obama said, ‘I will do whatever it takes to help the small business that can’t pay its workers.’
“Well, if forcing small businesses to give up more of what they earn to pay higher taxes to the federal government is the President’s idea of help, then I hate to see what’s next. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, ‘actions speak louder than words.’
“In hard times, when employers are already struggling to make payroll, the President’s budget puts a tremendous tax burden on the backs of small businesses. The real problem in Washington is that Democrats think more government, more spending, and higher taxes is the solution to all of our economic problems. But, I know that empowering individuals and entrepreneurs is the best way to create new jobs and to get our economy moving again.”
