Also, great sidebar – Democratic State Rep. Bill Clyburn (and Jim Clyburn’s cousin) gave comments that could rival the most conservative officials in the state. He quoted Thomas Paine, praised the Policy Council, and called for mandatory recorded votes in the General Assembly on absolutely everything. This is a great example how transparency is a universal issue unifying people across party lines. The only opposition comes from legislative leaders focused on protecting their power to create laws in secret.
