Former Helmand Province Commander from South Carolina featured around state
COLUMBIA, SC – Bill Connor, an Infantry Lt. Colonel in the US Army Reserves, is available for expert analysis on the Marine battle for the Taliban stronghold of Marjah.
Bill was the lead US Advisor in Helmand Province, the most volatile and violent province in Southern Afghanistan that contains the city of Marjah. In addition to commanding the advisory mission, Bill was also the lead US Liaison to UK forces in Helmand, and served with Britain’s Prince Harry around Christmastime, 2007. Bill’s deployment to Afghanistan lasted from May 2007 to May 2008. In April, 2009, Bill was invited to speak as an expert to the commanders of the 4000 Marines deploying to Helmand from Camp Lejeune.

Bill Connor is a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army Reserves who received the Bronze Star for his service in combat as the senior American advisor in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. Bill is the first post-9/11 combat veteran to announce for South Carolina statewide office. In addition to his Reserve duties, Bill serves as the Chairman of the Board of Orangeburg Christian Academy. Bill is a graduate of the Citadel and USC Law School.
