Speaker Harrell Comments on Judge Byars Appointment
(Columbia) – House Speaker Bobby Harrell issued the following statement about Judge William R. Byars, Jr. appointment to head the South Carolina Department of Corrections:
“Governor-elect Haley has made an excellent decision by selecting Judge Byars to run the Department of Corrections. Judge Byars has an excellent record with his work at the Department of Juvenile Justice. His innovative programs and cost cutting measures have produced a more efficient and more successful state agency. With another tight budget year ahead of us, this is precisely the type of leadership we need running crucial state agencies.”
