South Carolina Leaders Endorse Sandifer
(Seneca, SC) — With the June 10 primary election quickly approaching, several state officials have loudly voiced their support for Rep. Bill Sandifer in his bid for re-election to the S.C. House in District 2.
Endorsing Sandifer are several statewide office holders including S.C. Attorney General Henry McMaster, S.C. Treasurer Converse Chellis, S.C. Secretary of State Mark Hammond, and S.C. Commissioner of Agriculture Hugh Weathers.
“Bill Sandifer has worked tirelessly and taken a stand for conservative ideals that will improve South Carolina’s standard of living and quality of life,” McMaster said. “He has a strong desire to ‘give back’ to the people of Oconee County, is not afraid to work hard, and is always ready to listen to his constituents.”
“Rep. Bill Sandifer has worked diligently for the people of Oconee and Pickens Counties and for all the citizens of South Carolina,” Chellis said. “He has fought to cut government wasteful spending and for lessening the tax burden on hard-working families.”
“After working alongside Bill Sandifer for many years, I have seen first-hand that he is one of the hardest working House members,” Hammond said. “Time and again, he has stood up boldly for what is best for South Carolina’s future in areas such as improving our educational system and keeping taxes as low as possible. Sandifer has also been a very good friend to business in our state and has fought for legislation that supports our economy and helps companies grow and create jobs.”
Agriculture Commissioner Weathers said he supports Sandifer because he has consistently stood for lower taxes, a stronger economy, a smarter government, and a better educational system. “Particularly important to me is the fact that Sandifer supports policies to promote growth and development of South Carolina’s agriculture industry and related businesses,” Weathers added. “He has been one of our primary legislative supporters of the Certified SC Grown program, which promotes S.C.-grown products.”
In addition, Sandifer has gained endorsements from several of his fellow members of the S.C. General Assembly including House Speaker Bobby Harrell and Rep. Bill Whitmire, who, like Sandifer, represents Oconee County.
“Bill Sandifer supports the principles of his constituents and has voted to slash property taxes, eliminate the grocery tax and eliminate an entire income tax bracket, eliminate anonymous earmark spending from our state budget, support economic development opportunities, and streamline inefficient government bureaucracy,” Harrell said. “Bill is there for the people of Oconee County. I need his support in Columbia.”
Rep. Bill Whitmire said: “Bill Sandifer has been a colleague and desk mate of mine for the past six years in the General Assembly. I can say from first-hand knowledge that he has done an outstanding job for the people of Oconee County and South Carolina. He is always working for the state’s future in such areas as improving our education system, keeping taxes as low as possible, and attracting jobs to build our economy. Recently, he was named Co-Chairman of South Carolina’s Reform Caucus where he is actively working to make government less intrusive in our lives. Bill Sandifer has been a proven, effective leader in Columbia.”
Other South Carolina leaders who have endorsed Sandifer include Senate General Committee Chairman Thomas Alexander, House Ways & Means Chairman Dan Cooper, House Labor, Commerce & Industry Committee Chairman Harry Cato, and House Majority Leader Jim Merrill.
The endorsements from South Carolina leaders follow several others Sandifer has picked up in recent days including those from U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham, U.S. Congressman Gresham Barrett, Oconee County Sheriff James Singleton, and President of Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative Charles Dalton. Organizations that have come out in favor of Sandifer include the National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund, the S.C. Chamber of Commerce, S.C. Trucking Association, S.C. Healthcare Association, S.C. Manufacturers Alliance, S.C. Telephone Association, S.C. Hospitality Association, and S.C. Association of Taxpayers.
