The June 14th meeting of the Lowcountry Conservative GOP Breakfast Club will feature a discussion of the 2008 legislative session from the perspective of the Governor’s office. The legislative review will be given by Scott English, Chief of Staff for Governor Mark Sanford.
In March of 2008, Scott English was named Chief of Staff for Governor Mark Sanford. Prior to that time, he served as the Deputy Chief of Staff, primarily responsible for Policy, Budget, and Cabinet Affairs. At the onset of the Sanford Administration, English was named director of the South Carolina Washington Office, where he worked with the South Carolina congressional delegation and the Bush Administration on federal issues affecting the state.
Before his capacity with Sanford in SC, English worked on Capitol Hill as Legislative Director for former United States Representative Bob Barr (GA-7) from January 2001 to January 2003. English got his start in Washington by working for the national taxpayer group, Citizens Against Government Waste on a range of issues.
The meeting will be at Kelly’s BBQ Restaurant on US 78, near Summerville, at 9 a.m. on Saturday June 14th.
The public is encouraged to attend, and all attendees will be allowed to participate in the “open mike” Question and Answer session that will follow the presentation. Breakfast is served to attendees for $6.50 and the general public is encouraged to attend regardless of political affiliations.
The club meets every second Saturday monthly except July at the location, featuring speakers on topics of local, regional, state, and national interest.
