Anderson County Republican Party Executive Committee Votes to Censure County Council Candidate MacKay
Anderson–The Executive Committee of the Anderson County Republican Party, meeting in a regularly scheduled monthly meeting Monday night, voted to censure Republican County Council District 1 candidate Raymond Mackay for participating in the January 2008 South Carolina Democratic Presidential Preference Primary and subsequently filing to run as a Republican for county council in Anderson County in March of 2008. The resolution passed by unanimous vote.
Raymond MacKay is a candidate for the the District 1 council council seat currently held by Republican Bob Waldrep. A run-off election is scheduled between Mr. MacKay and Mr. Waldrep on Tuesday June 24. The winner will have no opposition in the general election in November as no Democratic candidate filed for the seat.

Resolution of Censure
for Raymond E. MacKay, Candidate for Anderson County Council, District One
WHEREAS, this body has been made aware of Mr. MacKay’s involvement in the presidential preference primary to choose the Democratic Party Nominee in January of 2008 and verified by the official signature sheet of The South Carolina Election Commission.
AND WHEREAS, Mr. MacKay chose not to participate in the South Carolina Republican Presidential Preference Primary on January 19, 2008, which was the first in the South primary, and an ongoing contest among several viable candidates.
AND WHEREAS, Mr. MacKay filed for the office of county council in March of 2008 on the Republican ticket.
Be It Resolved, that we, The Anderson County Republican Party Executive Committee do hereby strongly censure and denounce Raymond MacKay for participating in the 2008 South Carolina’s Democratic Presidential Primary in January and subsequently filing for office with The Anderson County Republican Party in March of 2008.
Voted on and approved this 16th day of June, 2008.
