South Carolina Civil Justice Coalition Praises Small Business Champs

(Columbia) The South Carolina Civil Justice Coalition has sent out a post card mailing praising five legislators for their pro-business support of workers’ compensation reform.
The legislators are Senator Kevin Bryant (R-Anderson), Senator Nikki Setzler (D-Lexington), Representative Nikki Haley (R-Lexington), Representative Mick Mulvaney (R-Lancaster), and Representative Wallace Scarborough (R-Charleston).  All five legislators showed leadership on workers’ compensation reform in 2007.

“Protecting small businesses is critical to growing South Carolina’s economy,” said Cam Crawford, SCCJC Executive Director. “Small businesses drive job growth and income growth in our state, and we need more leaders who will stand up for small business in the State House.”
“Last year, these legislators fought for South Carolina small businesses, pushing for reforms that will unlock enormous job-creating potential and reduce the exorbitant premium increases businesses have been forced to pay in recent years,” Crawford said.
“We obviously still have a long way to go in South Carolina on issues like legal reform and further workers’ comp reform, but with these leaders standing up for them, the needs of small businesses will be heard in this vital economic debate,” he said.

SCCJC serves as the unified voice of the South Carolina business community on civil justice issues.
