Barrett to participate in Energy Press Conference

Washington, DC – Tomorrow afternoon Congressman Gresham Barrett (SC, 3) is scheduled to join his Republican colleagues at a press conference that will continue the historic energy protest, and renew the Republican commitment to seek a debate and up-or-down vote on the American Energy Act.

Barrett flew back to Washington, DC three times during the month of August to call for a vote on meaningful comprehensive energy legislation. The first time Barrett went to the floor he encouraged the American people to let their voices be heard on this issue.  The second time, he read comments from a survey sent to constituents – of the over 3,000 response, nearly all were in support of domestic energy exploration.  The third time, Barrett discussed a district-wide energy tour – on the tour, Barrett heard from business owners, school officials, moms and dads, hard-working Americans, who want to see American energy solutions today.

At a press conference held on August 25th Congressman Barrett made the following remarks: “What we’re saying to Madam Pelosi, what we’re saying to the Democrat leadership is let’s quit the partisanship. This is not a Republican Party problem, guys, this is not a Democrat problem this is an American problem. And what we’re looking for is American solutions for real Americans that are hurting.”
