Lexington, S.C. – State Representative Nikki Haley today announced the recipients of the 2008 Nikki Haley Scholarships.

“I am very proud to announce that Jessica Marshall, Ellen Elizabeth Neely, and Brittany Porth have been chosen as this year’s scholarship recipients,” said Nikki Haley. “So many times we hear about what’s wrong with our schools and our students. These young women are an example of what’s right. All three have shown a commitment to academics, good citizenship, and leadership. I am proud of what they have done, and I am looking forward to hearing about their successes for years to come.”

Jessica Marshall is the daughter of Bob and Sandy Marshall, and is a graduate of Lexington High School. She is attending the University of South Carolina Aiken where she is majoring in Elementary Education.

Ellen Elizabeth Neely is the daughter of John and Rebecca Neely, and is a graduate of Lexington High School. She is attending the University of South Carolina where she is majoring in Graphic Design.

This year’s recipients demonstrated academic excellence, embodied the principles of good citizenship and leadership, and showed a strong commitment to their school and community. A committee screened all submitted applications.
