Rep. Duncan appointed to Southern States Energy Board

Representative Jeff Duncan (District 15 Laurens/Newberry) was recently appointed by the Speaker of the House Bobby Harrell to serve on the Southern States Energy Board, effective November 10, 2008.

The Board is charged with, among other things, ascertaining and analyzing on a continuing basis the position of the South with respect to energy, energy-related industries and environmental concerns. In addition, it should encourage the development, conservation and responsible use of energy and energy-related facilities, installations and products as part of a balanced economy and healthy environment.

The Board consists of members from the southern region stretching from Maryland and West Virginia to Texas and Oklahoma, with inclusion of the Atlantic Nuclear Compact state of Delaware as well as Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.

“I am honored to be chosen to serve the State of South Carolina in this capacity. I have a strong interest in energy and energy related issues,” Duncan said. “Through this service, I hope to continue to assist our state and nation in the quest to solve our energy needs for now and the future.”

In addition to this appointment, Representative Duncan currently serves on South Carolina’s Natural Gas Exploration Feasibility Study Committee as well as the Federal Department of the Interior’s Outer Continental Shelf 5-year planning sub-committee.
