Dear Mr. Schroeder,

Please accept this request from the undersigned members of the South Carolina Senate for your agency to conduct an official audit of the South Carolina Employment Security Commission (ESC). I will provide you next week details of the inquiry we desire, and they will include an investigation of the operations, systems and management practices of the ESC. I look forward to discussing this further with you in the coming weeks.

    Senator Ryberg,
    I support your request for audit. Additionally I support Gov. Sanford if he has to fire the Commissioners for non-compliance of his request.
    I support the Governor being in direct control of the agency as part of his Cabinet.
    Before seeing any efforts by the state House or Senate to raise taxes I would like to see efforts made to account for what taxes the state currently raises. The unemployment agency is a good example. I think it is incumbent for all of us to be good stewards of what we have before we ask for more.
