Barrett Statement on Bush Farewell
Washington, DC — As President George W. Bush prepares to leave the White House after eight years, Congressman J. Gresham Barrett (SC,3) released the following statement thanking him for his service and leadership to our nation.
“President Bush led America during some of the most challenging times in our nation’s history. Just nine months into his Administration, our country suffered its worst attack since Pearl Harbor. We should not forget that it was his resolve and steadfast leadership that lifted our nation during those dark days. There will be debate over the decisions made, but there should be no debate over the fact that President Bush always did what he believed to be in the best interest of our nation. As we prepare to welcome in a new President, we should all stop and reflect on the debt of gratitude we owe President Bush. So to the 43rd President of the United States I say Thank you and Godspeed my friend.”
