CLYBURN TO KEYNOTE LIBRARY OF CONGRESS AFRICAN AMERICAN HISTORY PROGRAM WASHINGTON, DC

House Majority Whip James E. Clyburn will deliver the keynote address at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, February 4, 2009 for the Library of Congress African American History Month program. This year’s Black History Month is themed, “The Quest for Black Citizenship in the Americas,” and coincides with the centenary of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). As a young student activist in the civil rights movement, through his work as human affairs commissioner in South Carolina and more recently as a national leader, Clyburn reflects the quest for black citizenship and has paved the way for future generations.     Rep. Clyburn has a long history of accomplishment. It is fitting that he provide the keynote for the African-American history program. As the article states, his efforts decades ago made progress today possible.
