City of Cayce Awarded For Litter Control

Cayce, SC – The City of Cayce has been awarded a 2009 Palmetto Pride Enforcement Grant for its outstanding efforts in carrying out litter control policies and protecting the environment.

Cayce has won this competitive grant consecutively since 2006, demonstrating its dedication to the keeping the city clean.

“Receiving the Palmetto Pride Enforcement Grant again this year shows our steady commitment to maintaining Cayce’s natural beauty,” said City Manager Johnny Sharpe.

The city will receive $5,000, the highest Enforcement Grant amount given by Palmetto Pride. Formed in 2003, Palmetto Pride is a nonprofit group created to eliminate litter and promote awareness about the issue in South Carolina.

The funds will aid in purchasing a pair of night vision binoculars to allow the Code Enforcement Unit to better monitor and reduce cases of littering. In years past, the grant has gone toward purchasing a piece of “groundhog” surveillance equipment and video equipment.

“Cayce is a naturally beautiful place and we want to keep it that way,” said the city’s mayor, Elise Partin. “We take pride in the city and want everyone to be able to enjoy it.”
