Statement from SCGOP Chairman Karen Floyd

COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina Republican Party Chairman Karen Floyd released the following statement:

“On the personal front, today’s news is neither a Republican nor Democrat issue.  It is sad that any family suffers like this, particularly when it is played out on a public stage.

Effective, responsive, and responsible government is a hallmark of our party. Conservative leaders have earned and kept the trust of South Carolina’s majority for many years, and I will make every effort to ensure our party keeps that trust.

In the hours and days ahead, I will reach out to and work with Republican office-holders, candidates, and activists to regain public confidence and win the next round of elections.”

I beg you do not push for the resignation of our Governor, Mark Sanford. He is an upstanding man who has made a grevious error in judgement. Please allow him to continue to serve the people of South Carolina. I have been very please with his service among all the termoil the state has undergone in recent months. I know he is an honorable man who loves his family and will make ever effort to correct his mistakes..please allow him to continue to serve

I was a democrat and turned republican because I felt like I could not agree with what the dems. was spouting. South Carolina has always lead with republicans but I fear after Gov. Sanfords little trist all he is doing is opening the door for the dems. If Sanford remains in office it will just help the next democratic gov. take over the state. Thank you Gov. Sanford, I for one am so glad you have found your soul mate. Will it be worth the price the state will have to pay in the end. Maybe I should look in to the Independant party.
