Mr. Wilkins appointed by Chairman Butch Kirven

(Greenville, SC) Greenville County Council Chairman Butch Kirven proudly announces that Ambassador David H. Wilkins has been appointed to the Greenville Area Development Corporation’s (GADC) Board of Directors.

“Mr. Wilkins’ vast experience in international relations and business will be invaluable in achieving the goal of increasing economic opportunity and prosperity in Greenville County,” says Chairman Kirven.

Ambassador Wilkins, a partner in law firm of Nelson, Mullins, Riley, and Scarborough LLP, served as the U. S. Ambassador to Canada from June 2005 to January 2009. Prior to that, he served as Speaker of the S. C. House of Representatives from December1994 until June 2005. A life trustee of Clemson University, Ambassador Wilkins was recently elected chairman of the Clemson University Board of Trustees.

Mr. Wilkins received his undergraduate degree from Clemson University and his law degree from the University of South Carolina, School of Law. After service in the U.S. Army, he returned “home” to Greenville, where he has practiced law for more than 30 years.

“He is rightfully proud of being a lifelong Greenville County resident,” says Kirven, “and his passion for our community is another terrific asset he brings to GADC.”

GADC was established by Greenville County Council in 2001 for the purpose of generating jobs and investment in Greenville County by working with the State of South Carolina, all municipalities in Greenville County, Greenville Technical College, and other economic development organizations in the Upstate region.
