Afghan vet assisting local United Way Chapter fundraising as Co-Chair
COLUMBIA, SC – United Way of the Midlands today announced that Bill Connor of Orangeburg had joined the United Way Campaign as Edisto Campaign Committee Co-Chairman.
“We are grateful to have Bill onboard with our organization,” said Mac Bennett, President & CEO, United Way of the Midlands. “Bill’s dedication and determination will be a great asset as we move forward to raise the resources needed for community organizations across the region.”
Connor agreed, adding, “I am so excited to be joining up in this new mission. I am particularly looking forward to assisting the organizations that help at-risk youth in our community. Helping children today preserves a brighter future for all of us, and I’m enthusiastic about the ways this organization can help.”

About Bill Connor
Bill Connor is a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army Reserves who received the Bronze Star for his service in combat as the senior American advisor in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. Since returning from deployment, Bill continued his work as an attorney practicing corporate defense law in Columbia, and as the Chairman of the Board of Orangeburg Christian Academy. Bill is a graduate of the Citadel and USC Law School. Bill lives in Orangeburg with Susan, his wife of 18 years, and their three children Peyton, Brenna, and Will.
