Henry McMaster statement on Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer
COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina Attorney General Henry McMaster today released the following statement:
“I’m sure Lieutenant Governor Bauer realizes he chose his words poorly in this instance. However, I think all conservatives share his concern about the huge debt which entitlement programs are placing on future generations.
“The lieutenant governor has now clarified his position. I hope Democrats will now stop their cynical effort to inflame passions and exploit the issue for political gain.”
Once again we learn that voters in S. Carolina do not elect the brightest and the best to public office. The cruel and ignorant comments by Andre Bauer could be dismissed as stupid if I did not believe that a whole lot of S. Carolina, especially white, citizens share his hateful attitudes and couch them in pseudo-Christian beliefs. It occurs to me that if S. Carolina, that once led the seccession movement, wanted to do so again, I and a lot of northern liberals would be glad to see the whole state go. And while you’re at it, take Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi with you.
