Former Presidential Candidate Will Headline Rex Rice for Congress Event Today

EASLEY, SC – Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee makes his first 2010 stop in South Carolina, today, February 18 at a lunch event for State Rep. Rex Rice, who is running for Congress.

Huckabee will headline a luncheon fundraiser for Rice from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm today, February 18th at the Carolina First Center, located at 1 Exposition Drive, in Greenville. The lunch portion of the event will be open press.

Huckabee will address an upstate crowd regarding ways to turn around the economy and the need to take back Congress by electing principled, conservative leaders like State Rep. Rex Rice.

Rice currently parts of Greenville and Pickens Counties in the State House and is the only candidate in the race for Congress who has introduced legislation to cut taxes, create jobs, and curb wasteful spending.

“It is an honor to have my good friend Mike Huckabee make a special trip to South Carolina to support my run for Congress. I just hope we can take back Congress, stop deficit spending, and protect the American Dream for future generations,” Rice stated.

Huckabee carried South Carolina’s Third Congressional district in the January 19, 2008 South Carolina Presidential Preference Primary, is leading Barach Obama in recent hypothetical head to head 2012 head to head polls.

Huckabee called Rice, “an authentic, consistent conservative who has the courage to stand up and fight the radicals in Congress who threaten to take our great nation down a road that leads to disaster.”

Rex Rice is the kind of solid leader we need in Congress today,” Huckabee continued in an endorsement letter.
