Club for Growth PAC Endorses Jeff Duncan in SC-03

WASHINGTON – Club for Growth PAC today announced its endorsement of State Representative  Jeff Duncan in South Carolina’s third Congressional district Republican primary, to be held June 8.

“Jeff Duncan is the kind of pro-growth, fiscal reformer who would help change Congress the moment he is sworn into office,” said Club for Growth President Chris Chocola.  “He has an outstanding record in the South Carolina General Assembly, consistently voting to lower taxes, limit government, and expand individual liberty.  And even more impressive than Jeff’s record of service is his history of leadership on issues like spending reform and school choice, even when it meant standing up for principle against his own party leaders.”

Chocola added that Club for Growth PAC is doubly committed to the race because of Duncan’s big-spending, tax-hiking opponent, State Representative Rex Rice.  “Our nation’s fiscal house is in shambles  because of exactly the kind of big-government policies  Rex Rice has supported in Columbia,” Chocola said.  “Rex Rice has supported raising taxes, including the cigarette tax.  If that’s not bad enough,  on fifty separate attempts to strip wasteful spending from South Carolina’s budget in 2007, Rex  Rice voted to keep the wasteful spending in place all fifty times.”

“The choice for third-district Republicans is clear,” Chocola said.  “Jeff Duncan believes high taxes and big government are the problem, and Rex Rice thinks they are the solution.”

Duncan is the 10th candidate Club for Growth PAC has endorsed in the 2010 election cycle.  He joins Senators Jim DeMint (S.C.) and Tom Coburn (Okla.), Senate candidates Marco Rubio (Fla.) and Pat Toomey (Pa.), and House candidates Kevin Calvey (OK-05), Tom Graves (GA-09),  Tim Huelskamp (KS-01), Mike Pompeo (KS-04), and Robin Smith (TN-03).
