Shane Massey Dominates Debate

Taxpayers Are Ready To Shake Up Congress

Edgefield, SC – March 8, 2010

Thursday night in McCormick, Senator Shane Massey, sent a resounding message to the voters of the 3rd Congressional District. From the depths of Lake Oconee, to the Savannah River Site, Shane conveyed to voters why he is the best candidate for Congress. In a 90 minute debate moderated by former State Republican Party Chairman Katon Dawson, the six Republican candidates fielded tough questions on the economy, foreign policy, health care, unemployment, and other critical issues facing America.

Senator Massey reassured voters that if elected, he will continue the reform policies that he has pushed in Columbia. He believes we can create jobs and grow our economy by stopping the government takeover of everything from the automotive industry to health care, vowing to fight wasteful pet project spending and continuing the push for offshore drilling to reduce our dependence on foreign oil.

During a fast lightening round, Shane proved his conservative credentials on term limits, earmark disclosure, No Child Left Behind, the Patriot Act, and Don’t Ask / Don’t Tell. He reminded voters that they don’t have to just take his word because his conservative record speaks for itself.  Shane is consistently ranked as one of the most conservative members of the state legislature.

In the end, voters heard Shane’s message and showed their support by an overwhelming victory in the straw poll. Shane won 53% of the vote, and in a 6 candidate race, this is a huge victory for Shane’s fight to Shake Up Washington!

Poll Results

Massey: 56

Cash: 15

Collins: 13

Duncan: 9

Rice: 8
