Governor Sanford to Sign Employment Security Commission Reform Bill
NEW CABINET WORKFORCE AGENCY ESTABLISHES ACCOUNTABILITY

Columbia, S.C. – March 29, 2010 – Governor Mark Sanford will join legislative leaders in Columbia tomorrow (Tuesday, March 30) to sign groundbreaking legislation reforming and restructuring the South Carolina Employment Security Commission into a Cabinet-level Department of Workforce. The bill will overhaul one of the state’s most troubled agencies by making its leaders more accountable to the taxpayer and bringing it back to its core mission of connecting South Carolinians looking for a job with employment opportunities.

The bill signing will take place at 10:00 a.m. in the First Floor Lobby of the State House in Columbia. For more information or directions from your location, please contact Ben Fox in the Governor’s Office at 803-734-2100.
