Thurmond Receives Endorsements of Three More Myrtle Beach City Council Members

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina – April 26, 2010 – 1st Congressional District Republican candidate, Paul Thurmond, today announced that three additional Myrtle Beach City Council members have endorsed Thurmond’s candidacy. Mayor Pro Tem Phil Render, Wayne Gray and Mike Lowder join Councilman Randal Wallace in supporting Thurmond as the next congressman representing the 1st Congressional District.

“I’m impressed with Paul’s knowledge of the issues facing our district and the nation and his ideas for solving the fiscal insanity we see in Washington,” said Render. “Most members of Congress no longer listen to the people; but Paul not only listens, he works to solve problems.”

“As a council member in Charleston, Paul has never supported a tax increase, and cut spending last year by more than $3 million while still providing the core services that our citizens expect from their government,” said Lowder.

“Paul knows first hand that local governments are closest to the people. He’ll take that experience to Washington where it’s desperately needed,” said Gray.

Wallace, who previously endorsed Thurmond, added “We need to invest in Paul as our next congressman. He is clearly the best candidate to represent the 1st Congressional District.”

“I’m truly honored to have the endorsements of these four respected council members,” said Thurmond. “Every day they make difficult decisions to enhance the quality of life for the citizens along the Grand Strand. I want to thank them for their commitment to my campaign, and promise to do everything I can to represent and support them and the people of Myrtle Beach.
