Loftis Calls on Chellis to Debate
Asks Current Treasurer to Answer Simple Questions
WEST COLUMBIA, SC – Conservative Republican businessman Curtis Loftis’ campaign issued an open challenge to the current State Treasurer to debate.

“The voters and taxpayers of this state deserve to know where the candidates are on the issues other than by watching television commercials. Candidates running for public office should not avoid answering the voter’s questions.  Curtis is willing to debate at any time on any day prior to June 1st,” stated Loftis campaign manager Hayden Willis.

“Converse Chellis has ducked a previous opportunity for debate and has refused to disclose emails concerning the $60 million budget error, why he needs an expensive SUV for his state vehicle, and why he only works part-time for full time pay?  Its time for the Treasurer’s spokesmen to step aside and let the candidate speak for himself,” Willis continued.

“In August of 2007, the General Assembly appointed one of their own to be State Treasurer. On June 8th, voters have the opportunity to elect the next Treasurer. Voters deserve the equivalent of a formal job interview and that equivalent is a debate,” Willis further stated.

Presently, Curtis Loftis is anticipating a response from the Chellis campaign on a proposed hour-long comprehensive debate on WVOC’s Keven Cohen radio program in Columbia.  WTMA’s Morning Buzz with Richard Todd has also agreed to provide air time for a similar debate in Charleston.

“So far, we have only heard from the Treasurer’s spokesman.  With less than three weeks until the election, it’s about time that the Treasurer got off his facebook account and stepped out from behind his keyboard,” Willis concluded.

Curtis Loftis is a conservative businessman who is the President of two successful companies.  He is also the Director and sole benefactor of a charity that supplies food, medical attention, educational scholarships, and financial support to missionaries on three continents.  Loftis was commended for his work at the Lieutenant Governor’s Office on Aging and the Comptroller General’s Transparency Initiative.
