Breaking News: State House plauged by Misogyny
In the last 24 hours, scandals have run torrid through the General Assembly. Sexist memo from House Majority leader latest in series of scandalous scuttlebut.
Just a day ago, news broke that State Rep. and presumably the next Treasurer Converse Chellis was sued in January of 2000 and later for multiple sexual harassment and financial impropriaties that led to the conclusion of his business relationship with Charleston CPA Martha Bryan.
Today, SCHotline broke the news that one of Chellis’s first actions as Treasurer would be to dismiss Henry White, the first African American Executive Direction of the Budget and Control Board, who had previously served as General Counsel to Governor Mark Sanford.
Just minutes ago, the following news broke that brings to light that House Majority Leader Jim Merrill wrote a less than savory memo to female interns requesting that they wear short skirts without proper undergarments. FITSnews broke that story and it can be found here:

Mark Sanford has shown he will do anything …no matter how low, to make the General Assembly look bad.
But he has stuck his slimey hand out too far, and I think the general public will smell the Sanford stench, and will reject this low brow Watergate styled politics.
We should be about ideas, not low class leaks, spin, and political crud. Mark Sanford owes SC an apology.
